Buying a tablet, when you realize that the pill already feels dated before never leaves the box, is a difficult proposal. History of Toshiba in tablets Android started at the high end with LE 10 excite, continued in a respectable middle end with the Toshiba Excite 10 and took another step to reduce costs with the Toshiba Excite 10. Unfortunately, the trimmed of features and build quality does not seem to be translating a lot of savings to you, the customer.
IF Excite 10 (or, as the Toshiba also calls, AT305SE) has a plastic body, replacing the aluminum one of Excite-10. It has a 3 Tegra processor, as well as its predecessor ... but we reviewed that Excite the middle of last year. The other internal specifications are largely the same, but the features have been removed: low-resolution cameras, has no HDMI port and a microSD card slot instead of SD
At about US $ 349, is more expensive than the Asus Smart Pad 10 MeMo, another similarly powered 3 Tegra tablet form. The MeMo Pad 10 has HDMI also. Also, as a matter of fact, this tablet is only currently updated to 4.1.1 Android, not for the latest version of Android, version 4.2, also known as jelly bean.
With Google i/o just around the corner and newer processors on the horizon, this 10-inch tablet just doesn't feel as the wisest investment of Android. Is old news and has cut many corners. It works ... just not as well as the competition.
Project
In 1.4 pounds, the Excite 10 feels around the same weight as the Asus Smart Pad 10 MeMo, or the Retina Display iPad 9.7 inches. Toshiba Excite 10 LE was a thin metal, sexy. The 10 of excite once was thicker, but still. The 10 IF is another step down the ladder of budget: it's all-plastic dress. A rosy-Silver "Fusion"-plastic copper finish the edges and back textured point rather than aluminum, and there are shiny plastic on the front instead of Gorilla Glass. Gives a feeling much more budget-tablet laptop.
I did, however, as the smallest footprint of Excite-10, at least compared to the thinner, more Asus Smart Pad 10 MeMo. It is thicker (0.4 inches), but it looks like it will slip a little more easily in a small bag. The slightly reduced frame make the most sense.
It's hard to wax poetic about this project very Excite 10. is functional, but it is decidedly less sexy than the earlier, more high-complete tablet Toshiba deals.
Hardware
IF Excite 10 comes with a 1.6 GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB onboard storage only. Has a Micro USB 2.0 port that acts as the load connector and a microSD card slot. The tablet has Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi connectivity 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, a gyro, an accelerometer, ambient light sensor and a digital compass.
