Cheshire's 'Silicon Valley' Attracted New Software Company to Congleton, Says MD



Congleton’s location at the heart of Cheshire’s new ‘Silicon Valley’ was the reason the town was chosen as the location for new software company Ambidect, according to Tim Thomas-Peter and Scott Bamford, entrepreneurs and founders of the new business. “There are dozens of well-established and new software and technology  companies operating in this area and that is why Congleton was the right place for us to establish our new business, added Mr Thomas-Peter, MD of Ambidect, speaking from his company headquarters in the Riverside complex at the heart of the town.

“We even have at least four further technology businesses operating in our own building. The fact that they work within the same technology sector as us doesn’t necessarily make them competitors. In some respects we complement each other.” Mr Thomas-Peter said the fact that the Congleton area was a favourite location for new technology businesses brought with it a number of benefits. “First and foremost it means we have a ready-made pool of high-quality talent in the area. Employees within the businesses will move around over time and bring with them a significant amount of experience, which is a positive.


“Our location also means we are on the doorstep of four universities, Staffordshire, Keele, the University of Manchester and the Manchester Metropolitan University which gives us access to a further pool of potential graduate employees.” Mr Thomas-Peter said the fact that the town was also poised for further growth was a positive factor. A growing business community would improve availability of support services as well as providing new clients.
