LCD vs. DLP
You can purchase an Eiki projector in either a DLP or LCD format. In fact, Eiki was the first company to produce the LCD projector.
LCD and DLP mean the same thing in a projector that they mean in a television.
LCD stands for liquid crystal display
The internal lamp of an Eiki projector is able to produce a large amount of light in a relatively small space. Moreover, these lamps give off ideal color temperature and a broad spectrum of color. Ironically, their strongest feature is also their weakness, these metal halide lamps
LCD projectors shine when it comes to rich color, quiet running and low heat, however they are prone to pixilation or screen door effect. Moreover, blacks will appear grayer than a comparable DLP machine. This being said a LCD Eiki projector is probably best used for presentations in power point.
DLP on the other hand is digital light processing. This technology uses a digital micro mirror device or DMD to process the images on the screen
A DLP Eiki projector will excel in video projection, size, color contrast and black levels. This makes them more appropriate for home movie theater applications than LCD.
Either of these technologies can be used interchangeably, in other words you can use DLP for presentations and LCD for movies; these are just general guidelines you can use.
Lumens
Lumens are the measure of brightness that an Eiki projector displays. The higher the number the better the image quality will be. Another good rule of thumb is the brighter the room in which you are using the projector the more lumens that are required
LCD and DLP differ in this slightly; due to the different technologies, DLP will require a higher number of lumens for the same ambient light than an LCD.
Bottom Line
There are several models of Eiki projector that will suit any need you have. The important thing is to know ahead of time when and where you will be using the machine to get the best one
