Mobile Application Developer MobilityCIO Launches New Cross Platform Mobile Business Application

MobilityCIO, Inc., ( www.mobilitycio.com ) a leading mobile applications development and strategy provider, has announced the successful release of another major mobile business application for one of its largest clients.

The Mobile Delivery and Scheduling application is the sixth module in a complete business package that has been under development for the past 18 months.  The first five mobile application modules of the package were released throughout 2012 and included Sales Management, Order Inquiry, Quote Inquiry, Issue Management and Project Management.  The suite of mobile business applications was custom designed to meet the specific needs of one of the largest manufacturers of business products in the world. The mobile software is designed to run on all major mobile platforms, and is specifically supported on iPhone, iPad, Android Phone and Tablet devices.

MobilityCIO founder and principal consultant, Matthew Brogie, began the process by developing a detailed understanding of the business process, and building a mobile strategy that best matched the manufacturer's business needs.  Evaluating Native, Hybrid and other Cross-Platform approaches, the team settled on an HTML5 based solution to maximize the ability for a diverse set of distributors to use the solution without putting a heavy support burden on the manufacturer's IT organization.

“This project was unique in that our client’s end users are actually employees of independent distributors, each with autonomy over the devices that are used in the field,” said Brogie.   The manufacturer distributes its products using a network of several hundred distributors across North America with sales, delivery, installation and service teams that range in size from two to over twenty.  Brogie explained that “because of the complex structure, and the need to support a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) strategy, a Mobile Web based solution emerged as the most appropriate architecture for this project.”

All of the modules are built using the HTML5 jQuery mobile framework, with a Web Services based integration to the back-end order management system.  MobilityCIO lead the technical architecture and UI design efforts, and assembled a lean development team to maximize the efficiency of the development effort.  Each module can be used stand-alone, or as part of a complete suite on consumer grade mobile devices.

The release of this module furthers the vision of providing mobile workers with the tools that they need to accomplish all aspects of their job in the most efficient way possible.
